Autodesk Cloud Rendering and Simulation

Did you know with each subscription seat of Autodesk software you receive 100 cloud credits! These credits are renewed each year when you renew your subscription. You can now purchase additional cloud credits in packs of 100 credits.

What are Cloud Credits and what are they for?
Cloud credits are the units Autodesk uses to measure the cost of various tasks in Autodesk 360, such as renderings and simulations.

If you have not already been out to the Autodesk 360 website, 360.autodesk.com I encourage you to take advantage of this service! Not only do you get 100 cloud credits, you also get 25GB of online storage per subscription seat.

How are cloud credits charged? Cloud credits are charged per megapixel (MP), and at different rates depending on the size, quality, and type of rendering.
What is the charge for basic renderings? Basic renderings are charged as follows: Renderings of single images at Standard quality under 1 MP are free.Renderings over 1 MP at Standard quality cost half a cloud…

Export Bing Map (Basejump) to AutoCAD

Had the question come up today about how to EXPORT the Bing map connection (Basejump) to a drawing that can be accessed by others that do not have Map 3D and/or Civil 3D.
Quick steps below:
Connect to your Bing maps in the task pane.Zoom into your area of interest.Right click on the connecting in the Task Pane and choose "Resample Raster"Save your drawing (if needed)IF in the "Planning and Analysis" workspace.  Choose the OUTPUT tab on the ribbon and choose "Save Current Map to AutoCAD"Key in command = MAPEXPORTCURRENTMAPTODWGThis will export to a new ACAD file and create a PNG image as an XREF.

Had a video here, but doesn't seem to want to upload, and no audio!!  Email if you would like the link:

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 Pressure Pipe Changes!!

Plenty of changes for Pressure Pipes in Civil 3D 2014
Civil 3D 2014 has many improved features for Pressure Pipe Networks. One of the most important improvements is the ability to create pressure pipe network data shortcuts. Meaning you can now share pressure pipe network data in the same style as other data shortcuts.

However, since 2014 Civil 3D is "Backwards Compatible" you will not be able to use the data shortcuts in Civil 3D 2013 files. Files created and saved in 2014 with pressure network references will open in 2013, but the network will not have the full functionality in 2013.

Other Pressure Pipe improvements are:

Create pressure networks from objectsEdit multiple pressure network parts in plan view by sliding or moving themEdit multiple pressure network parts in profile view by changing the slope or elevationUse the 3D Plane compass setting to rotate the compass plane when laying out and editing pressure networks in model viewUse the rotate grip and 3D Snap compass set…
