Boise Civil User Group - September Meeting

This month's user group is on Thursday September 22, 11am-1pm at the Idaho AGC Building.
This month's sponsored presentation will be given by Shawn Herring of ProSoft.

Topic: "Best Practices when working with Survey Data"
We will be taking a look at the beginning process of all our civil projects; Survey. Working with survey data and getting it to do what you'd like it to do can be a pain sometimes. Have you ever received a bunch of points from the surveyor and wondered, "What's best way to import this data and get started quickly?" For this month's session we will go over importing points, manually creating points and exporting points out for staking. We will create some point groups and look at how point groups can automate the drafting/design process. We will take a quick look at importing a Fieldbook file for that “Field to Finish” option and see how our template can automate the surface creation process.

September's Plugin-of the month!
OVERVIEW This section of Autodesk Labs contains a “plugin of the month" brought to you by the Autodesk Developer Network (ADN). The plugins provided are simple productivity enhancing tools that streamline the use of our design applications. The plugins are developed by Autodesk or by other ADN members. All of the plugins we provide come with full source code to show what goes on inside and will have taken a relatively small amount of time to develop (from half a day up to about a week). The idea behind this is that nothing we deliver will be especially "out-of-reach" for someone wishing to invest in learning and using our Application Program Interfaces (APIs). Hopefully you are inspired to create your own plugins. THIS MONTH'S PLUGIN Supported Applications TransTips for AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, and 3ds Max
This plugin translates the contents of tooltips in various Autodesk products automatically into on…

Updated Google Earth Extension for AutoCAD 2012 Family Now Available

The Google Earth extension supports version of AutoCAD as far back as 2007. For this update, only the 2012 compatible technology preview was updated. This is even different from the 2012 update the team made in June of this year. In fact, this update is a complete rewrite that interfaces to Google Earth using a new Java Application Program Interface (API). The former version used the Microsoft COM API (// more), so we'd really like your feedback on this new version or the AutoCAD 2012 discussion forum.

NEW Civil 3D Labs Preview: 3D drive with corridor solids!!

Autodesk Labs: 3D drive with corridor solids
The Corridor Solids Technology Preview for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2012 software provides functionality to create AutoCAD® solids from AutoCAD Civil 3D Subassembly shapes that are contained in an AutoCAD Civil 3D Corridor Model. By creating solids from subassembly shapes, representative real-world objects such as tunnels, retaining walls, and pavement layers can be more easily used for visual analysis, design verification, and construction coordination through enhanced model sharing between various project team members who are using applications such as Autodesk® Navisworks® 2012 products, Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2012, Autodesk® 3ds® Max Design 2012, and the new Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler 2012 software.
