FREE Webinar: QTO (Quantity Takeoff) in Civil 3D

QTO (Quantity Takeoff) in Civil 3D

AutoCAD Civil 3D software includes Quantity Takeoff (QTO).  Most people overlook that functionality, but it really is a useful tool.  You can use the model you have built as part of your design to measure and quantify the pieces needed to turn your project from paper to reality.  You can export to a number of formats and even to other applications for further analysis.  In this session we will review:

·        Open and Review list of pay items
·        Assign pay items
·        Use QTO Tools to review items
·        Generate QTO Output

Subscription Productivity Tools for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013

Just in case you forgot, in August Autodesk announced that the Productivity Tools for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 have gone live on Subscription Center. This is a collection of tools and content supporting regional and/or industry specific workflows that can be downloaded and installed by Civil 3D subscription customers to enhance the value of the Civil 3D product.

Watch for a ProSoft Webinar on these tools coming up soon!!

Download now at the Subscription Center

The following are some of tools that were launched:

Borehole Utility for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013
The imports data files containing borehole information in AGS and CSV format and creates Civil 3D points and/or borehole diagrams projected onto a Civil 3D Profile View.

Bridge Modeler for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013
The Bridge Modeler for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 enables users to create bridge models based on critical geometry in the Civil 3D corridor model and existing ground surface. Users can also create AutoCAD Civil 3D alignments and profiles from key bridge strings such as bottom of lowest girder or top of barrier. Finally, users can quickly transition bridge parameters created in the AutoCAD Civil 3D version of this Bridge Modeler into the Autodesk Revit Structure Bridge Modeling extension (REX) where additional modeling can be accomplished.

Cartogramma Utility for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013
The Cartogramma Utility for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 is a graphical representation of earth works in designed area. Locations and quantities of cut and fill areas are precisely determined.

Corridor Solids Extraction for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013
The Corridor Solids Extraction for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 enables users to extract AutoCAD solids from Civil 3D corridor shapes and links which can then be used for design review, construction simulation and general project visualization. Users can calculate volumes directly from solids and easily import the solids into other applications such Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and 3ds Max Design.

AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 Extension for Civil View
The AutoCAD®Civil 3D®2013 Extension for Civil View is intended to be used in conjunction with the existing Export to Civil View for 3ds Max Design option in AutoCAD Civil 3D and provides the ability to add Civil 3D alignment, profile and pipe network data to your Civil View model in Autodesk 3ds Max Design.

AutoCAD®Civil 3D®2013 Import/Export Extension for GENIO
The AutoCAD®Civil 3D®2013 Import/Export Extension for GENIO streamlines the migration of data from Bentley® MXROAD® software to AutoCAD Civil 3D software. It also enables customers to use AutoCAD Civil 3D on projects that require Bentley MXROAD format deliverables and/or the use GENIO or binary "modelfile" format as data sources.

Rail Track Layout Utility for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013
The Rail Track Layout Utility for AutoCAD®Civil 3D®2013 provides functionality to place and edit track turnout geometry from a configurable library, on AutoCAD Civil 3D alignments.

ArcGIS for AutoCAD

ESRI's latest release of ArcGIS for AutoCAD simplifies the communication between CAD and GIS platform.  For those using AutoCAD and not Map 3D or Civil 3D this is a pretty good tool.  You can use ArcGIS for AutoCAD to do the following:

Use ArcGIS for AutoCAD to
  • Streamline information sharing between GIS and CAD groups.
  • View live, rich cartographic GIS maps in AutoCAD.
  • Include the results of GIS analysis in AutoCAD designs.
  • Add imagery to your AutoCAD drawing.
  • Create, manipulate, and define how CAD data is organized and attributed as GIS content so it can be used in ArcGIS for Desktop or AutoCAD.
  • Navigate your AutoCAD session based on street address or place names.
